1960's Inspired

Inspired by all the 1960's movies I've been watching lately...well watching all my life, I decided to do a photo shoot.  In my house there's this fabulous 1960's wallpaper. I just happened to have a 60's inspired dress that matches it perfectly. Once i got in front of the camera I couldn't help but start grooving to 60's dances like The Swim and The Clam. I'm really not the greatest dancer, frankly I dance like a dork...lol! The first time I met Jonny I was dancing! He's always done a great impression of how I dance. Until recently he had no idea where I got my style of dancing, but one day there just happened to be an Elvis movie on TV, soon enough there was a dance scene and Jonny finally understood where I got my groovy dance moves! :o)

Penelope

The other day I watched a film called Penelope starring Natalie Wood. I wasn't expecting much from the film, due to the fact that the t.v. rating was only 1 1/2 stars. I watched it anyway, it couldn't be all that bad with Natalie Wood starring (one of my favorite actresses) and Edith Head  doing the costumes for the film. Natalie plays Penelope a flighty wife who robs her husbands bank because she's bored. Natalie is adorable and the clothes are fabulous! If you enjoy films from the 1960's you'll really enjoy this one. I would give it 4 stars for just being wonderfully fun, after all isn't that what the 1960's were about?! :o)

PS: The Edith Head link has a great promo video for the costumes in the film!

Blue and Black

For some reason I used to have a problem with wearing navy blue and black together. I don't know why because I've always kinda liked the two colors together, even if to some it is a fashion faux pas. I have now gotten over my silly fear of wearing black and blue together. My wardrobe now seems endless! Jonny bought this dress for me on our honeymoon, the brand is Trinity, I love the drop-waist. I bought my jacket a long time ago from Forever 21, my tights are Gap and my shoes are Seychelles. Hope everyone is well! :o)

Vintage Treasure in My Own Closet

Today while I was cleaning my closet I came across a dress that I totally forgot I even had.  In the spring when I moved, I must have just put it in a bag because it needed a little repairing and I never opened the bag till now!  It's a 1950's dress I found last winter at my favorite vintage shop.  The first thing I thought of when I pulled it out of it's sad home was a dress Jean Seberg wears is A Bout de Souffle.  All summer I searched, hoping to find a dress similar to the one in the film.  Little did I know that I had one similar enough tucked away in my closet. Though this dress isn't exactly like the dress Jean Seberg wears in A Bout de Souffle, it's close enough for me.  Sadly I have to wait until spring to wear it. :o(

Sunday!

I spent the day driving around and looking at the beautiful fall foliage. One of the wonderful things about living in New England is fall and the vibrant colors that it brings! When I got home I couldn't bring myself to stay inside just yet, so Jonny and I took a walk on the beach and came across this great fort(probably built by teenagers so they could hide away and drink...lol). Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday. :0)

Downtown

This afternoon I went downtown to enjoy the nice fall day. Despite the chilly weather Jonny and I stopped to have some ice cream, it was delicious! While taking pictures too many people starting walking by, hence the funny face in the picture with the man and his bike...lol!

I was very excited to be able to wear my new winter boots, I love them! My sweater and belt are vintage as well as my dress which is from the 1940's - I hemmed it shorter.

I also want to thank everyone for their helpful comments about my hair. I'm still a brunette at the moment, but in the next couple months plan on going blonde again. Being blonde is just so much fun...lol! :o)

Brunette or Blonde?

Brunette or blonde? What do you think? Sorry about the bad quality of the second picture...I was sitting front of the computer taking pic's of myself, Lol! :o)

Wonderfully Windy!

These pictures are from yesterday when Jonny and I went to an old Fort near where we live. It was such a beautiful fall day, not a cloud in the sky. It was also delightfully windy right by the water. One of my favorite feelings in the world is my dress flowing in the wind! Just as long as I'm not walking in the city and have a Marilyn moment...lol! My sweater and dress are both from Forever 21, my tights are from the Gap, and I've had the shoes I'm wearing forever. Hope everyone is having a good start to their week! :o)

A Walk in the Woods

This afternoon Jonny and I went for a walk in the woods. I had hoped to shoot a photo that resembled the Scarlett Johansson photo below but...they all turned out pretty bad...lol! You have to give Scarlett credit for that picture because it's not an easy one to achieve. Luckily Jonny shot some other pictures so I had something to put up. Dress is vintage boots are rubber. Hope everyone is well! :o)

Rubber Boots and Vintage Dresses!

I love this picture of Scarlett Johansson not only for the wonderful vintage dress she is wearing, but wouldn't it be nice if we could all spend the day lounging on a tree branch like that? :o)

1930's Hat

This has got to be my favorite hat! I know it seems like I say that a lot, but this one really is special. It's from the 1930's and it's in really great condition. I've always dreamed of having a hat like this-I was really lucky to snatch it up! I found it at my favorite vintage shop. My sweater is second hand and my skirt is from the 1950's. I also found them at the same wonderful shop. I hope everyone has had a great weekend! :o)

Anthropologie Inspired!

Yesterday, in the mail I received the new Anthropolgie catalog, it's absolutely gorgeous! So I was definitely inspired by that today when I got dressed. My outfit also reminded me of the lovely Esme and the Lane Way! The dress I'm wearing I bought a few months ago from Urban Outfitters, my shoes and belt are vintage. I wore these shoes a few years ago when I was in a play called Arsenic and Old Lace. In the 1940's it was a film starring the very dapper Cary Grant. It was a wonderful play to be in not only because it was set in the 1940's, but because it also starred my now hubby Jonny! It was quite nice to have Jonny dressed in three piece suits everyday. Maybe that's part of the reason I fell for him so fast...lol! :o)

Gorgeous Lady!

Need I say more? :o)

Cowboys a fashion influence?

Today I'm not feeling so well, it doesn't help that it's another cold rainy day here. Although, the weather being so bad makes me feel less guilty for not getting out of my pajama's and watching old movies all day! To make me feel a little better I decided to look at some pictures of Elvis. He always makes me smile...haha! As well as always loving Elvis, I've always loved cowboys. When I was little my Mom would take me to see all the new cowboy movies that came out. I remember seeing Wyatt Earp when I was just 8 years old. It was a three hour movie, but I never took my eyes off the screen! I also liked to dress like a cowboy when I was small, I had red pair of cowboy boots and a grey pair(i still have them). I wore them with everything! I guess you could say cowboys still somewhat influence my style today. My favorite boots are my Frye cowboy boots, only they are not red! S0, of course when Elvis played a cowboy I loved it! The top picture is Elvis when he was just 18. The one below is Elvis in costume for the film Charro.
Off I go to watch some more old movies! Hmm, maybe I should watch Charro...LoL! :o)
