My Very Own Lula

Thanks to Lauren of Blooming Leopold I have my very own copy of Lula! Yay, thank you so much Lauren! I know I'm not the only one totally loving this issue. I don't want to give anything away for those of you that don't have it yet, but I'm going to have to get my hair cut like that second picture. Yes, I might even go red. Have a fantastic evening!

Monkey Business

I can't believe it's been almost a week since my last post! Things have been very busy, in a good way though. I've been doing lots of shopping for my shop and lots of sewing on my 40s sailor dress, which is almost done! Today I was inside working all day listing things on Etsy, which might explain my silly faces. Though, I'm really quite silly all the time, so that's no excuse, hehe.

I'm wearing a 40s dress that you might remember from awhile back when it was ankle length. I decided to hem it so it was more wearable. I'm so happy I did because now I wear it all the time! This has also pretty much been what my fall wardrobe has looked like. Everyday I seem to put on a 40s dress, a cardigan, knee socks and boots. Oh yes and my trusty hat!

I hope everyone is well, talk soon! :o)

*Monkey Business is a Cary Grant movie worth seeing, like all Cary Grant movies! It has Marilyn and Ginger too!

A Surprise Visit

On the way thrifting today Jonny and I stopped at this fantastic watermill. It was built in 1902!

While standing taking pictures I discovered we had a surprise visitor...

Isn't he the cutest?! He didn't even move when Jonny took pictures of him. Probably because he was scared for his life, lol! Maybe next time I'll see him again.

April 22, 1933

I recently came across this magazine from April 22, 1933. I was immediately drawn to the adorable lady and her fantastic dress! Why can't dresses from magazines come to life?! Anyway, I thought I'd share with you some of my favorite pages from this fun little mag! I hope you enjoy!

My Favorite New Dress!

Today in the mail I received my favorite new dress! I had been watching it on ebay, everyday obsessively looking to see how high the price had gone. When bidding night came I was so nervous I was shaking, haha! I put in my bid in the last 15 seconds and closed my eyes. Yes, it was mine!!! It's from the 1940s and in wonderful condition. I just love all the little details! You'll be seeing a lot of this dress!

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekends! It's still cold and rainy here, so it's time to get all cozy and warm and watch a movie. :o)

Rainy Days and Radios

This is what I wore today while going grocery shopping, vintage hunting and making a trip the post office, to mail some very special dresses. It's been rainy and cold here, but I don't mind. I get to wear my rain boots after all! This post is also the debut of one of my favorite pieces of furniture ever! My 1940s radio/record player that I bought for only $20! The record player doesn't work so I still use my new vintage style one. The radio still lights up though! The rest of the day I plan on taking some pictures for my shop. Then later Jonny and I are going to going to eat pizza and watch Pearl Harbor. He's never seen it! If you haven't the 40s dresses are fabulous! Have a lovely weekend!

Jacket: 40s junior, I found it in a pile on the floor at an antique shop in Maine for $8
Sailor skirt: church shop for $1, you can't see the entire wonderfulness of it in these pictures

Little Vintage Sailor Dress for Sale!

This adorable little number is up in my shop! I love it, but just don't wear it as much as it deserves to be worn. I want it to go to a good home with a little lady that will just love it to pieces! Have a good evening ladies!

Project Time

I recently bought these two patterns to get myself back in the sewing mood. The first is from 1940 and I'm just crazy about it! I found it after I disappointingly lost out on a similar 40s sailor dress on Ebay. It went for $160! So, after losing I went searching on google for 1940s sailor dresses and this pattern popped up on Etsy. The perfect size and everything, happiness! The second pattern is from 1961. I bought this one determined to end my search for a dress like the one Jean Seberg wears in Breathless. I think it'll be perfect, if I find the right striped fabric! So, that's what I plan on doing this weekend, going fabric shopping. I'll keep you updated with my progress! Oh, and the picture below is my sewing area! Have a lovely day!

Hats, Hats and More Hats

Today I added five great vintage hats to my shop! Most of them are from the 50s, while one is from the 30s. Enjoy!

Also, I don't know if you can tell, but I got a little hair trim yesterday. It's not much different. Just shorter in the back and more defined bangs. I love it! I feel like a new woman, hehe! Have a great night everyone!

By the Sea

With my recent obsession with The Edge of Love, I couldn't help but dress inspired by the movie this morning! I just got this lovely 1940s dress in the mail from S. Vintage on Etsy! I was thrilled when I found it and didn't think twice before I snatched it up. It's so hard to find printed 40s dresses these days.

Anyway, I had a great day! I went to my favorite vintage shop and found the sweetest 40s dress I think I've ever seen! It'll be going in my shop this week. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! :o)

I'm Still in Love!

I know I'm not the first person to post pictures from The Edge of Love...but it's the first time I've ever posted any. I watched The Edge of Love last night for the second time and I liked it even more then the first! I'm completely obsessed with the clothes, of course! I can't wait until it's chilly enough here to wear boots with little floral dresses and comfy sweaters. Just the other night I splurged and bought myself a floral 40s dress totally inspired by the one in these pictures! I'm sure you'll be seeing that this weekend! Anyway I hope you enjoyed seeing these pictures for the hundredth time. Maybe there was one or two you haven't seen!

Didja' Ever

Do you ever have one of those days where every outfit you try on just seems so blah!? I know we all must. That was me a few days ago! I look in my closet and I know I have so many beautiful things to wear, but everything I put on just seems so wrong. What's even more annoying is when I have tons of outfits I want to wear and no car to take me anywhere! Anyway, whenever I have one of those "blah" days this is the dress I always seem to put on. Even on the worst days this dress just feels right! What's your go to outfit? Lets see it!

Have a great day lovelies! :o)

Betty and Bette

Betty Draper (Mad Men) and Bette Davis, that is. Both of these outfits, including the purses, are now up in my shop! The first dress is a early 60s shirtwaist dress that so reminds me of Betty Draper on Mad Men. Yes, I've been watching too much Mad Men lately, hehe! The suit is from the 40s and reminds me of the fabulous Bette Davis. Have a lovely day ladies! :o)

A Day in the Life

Saturday is always the day that Jonny and I spend entirely together. We always go to lunch and we always wander around and explore. Saturday is also the day that I go to my favorite vintage shop, without fail! I love this little place, and I always seem to be the only one browsing the vintage clothes. I'm not complaining though, it's my little secret. :o)

Look at the celling of hats! It's hat heaven!!!

I tried on this great 60s dress! I didn't get it, but I might have to go back soon and snatch it up.

I ended up getting two super cute dresses for my shop! Both of which I wish were my size.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!
